A blend of American folk, country, rock-n-roll, and blues, Erik Koskinen realizes a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic. Koskinen channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor. The Minneapolis Star Tribune calls Koskinen “the real deal” and “the best country songwriter in Minnesota.”

Tapers notes: Set 8/10 from Muskie Days 2023. I definitely learned a lesson on this weekend of shows, if you want something done right, you're probably better off doing it yourself. As with previous recordings from the weekend, the SBD recording starts late, about 45 seconds into Track 3. When I asked about recording that weekend, I had planned to hook up to the SBD, and I usually hit record long before the set starts. But, when the sound guy offered to just send me files of his recording, I figured that would be better, I'd stay out of his way and make it easier on me as well. But, his main priority is getting the sound right at the venue, and not worrying about hitting record, so I can't really blame him for starting these late, it's just a lesson learned for next time. That being said, once the mix gets right on track 3, it's a fantastic recording.
